Entrepreneur Story: Songkick, Built On Rock and Roll

Entrepreneur Story Songkick, Built On Rock and Roll
Ready to rock? and roll? Michelle You was attending school at Beijing, and she missed attending live concerts, so she did something about it.

She found it hard to find information about concerts, so later at the University at Cambridge, her frustration resulted in the idea that became Songkick. Songkick is a site that scans your music library and informs you when your favorite bands and singers are playing in your area. In this video, Michelle explains how she got started with her co-founders, got started with Y combinator's bootcamp program, and her philosophy of running the business by focusing on "understanding the user".

Songkick is a website and service that provides personalized news about live music events. It allows users to track their favorite bands and receive email alerts when a tracked band plays a gig nearby. Songkick is one of the original high tech startups in London's Silicon Roundabout area.
Michelle You studied English and philosophy at Columbia before receiving her master’s in English at Cambridge. She was the managing editor of Theme magazine before starting Songkick.
